Archaeologists discover new style of Aboriginal rock art in Australia

Archaeologists have uncovered a previously undescribed style of Aboriginal rock art across an 80-mile stretch of northern Australia’s Arnhem Land. A total of 570 paintings were identified, depicting long-extinct creatures and extraordinary relationships between humans and animals.

    New York Museum to sell rare Jackson Pollock painting at Christie’s

    New York’s Everson Museum is selling its only Jackson Pollock (1912-1956) painting to fund efforts to diversify the collection. Painted in 1946, ‘Red Composition’ is expected to fetch between $12 million and $18 million (£9 million – £13.5 million) at Christie’s upcoming 20th Century Art auction in New York.

      Archaeologists discover earliest British art on Jersey

      A team of archaeologists have discovered the earliest known evidence of artistic expression in the British Isles. Decorated with abstract designs, the fragments of engraved stone were unearthed at Les Varines, Jersey, between 2014 and 2018.
